The recruitment process

Our retail business is demanding, challenging and, above all, rewarding for talented sales people with drive and determination. To make sure we make the right additions to our already successful teams, we've developed a recruitment process that varies from role to role.

All candidates should apply via this website. (If you're not able to apply online, or if you have any special requirements to attend an interview, email one of the Recruitment Team to let us know.)

We interview selected candidates over the phone, to establish their experience in the basics of each role. The process then varies by role:

For an Area Manager

First you will have a telephone interview, and then we may invite you to meet us face to face at our Hatfield head office, before attending our assessment centre.

The assessment, at our Hatfield offices, includes:

  • a competency-based interview with a Head of Field Operations or our Recruitment Team, which looks to identify your strengths in areas such as: customer focus, delivering results, problem solving, communication and influencing, leadership and coaching, business awareness, personal development, and self awareness. Candidates will need to give examples of how they've demonstrated these competencies.
  • a presentation from you based on information about a specific business area. You must analyse the material before presenting back your findings and thoughts to a Head of Field Operations or a member of our Recruitment Team.
  • a role-play scenario based around leadership and coaching skills, demonstrating how you would coach a member of your team.

For a Store Manager

The process is the same as for the Area Manager, except you go straight from telephone interview to your assessment.

For a Sales Consultant

After your telephone interview, you will attend an assessment day at a venue local to you, which includes:

  • a competency-based interview with a Store Manager and a member of the Recruitment Team, which looks to identify your strengths in: customer focus, delivering results, problem solving and communication and influencing.
  • a role-play scenario based around exploring a customer's needs and selling a product to them.
