Health
We recognise some people have concerns about the potential health impact of their children using mobiles. We are committed to addressing these concerns openly and honestly.
How we protect children
We adhere to strict international safety guidelines for base stations and mobiles and we're confident they don't present a health risk. These guidelines are recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and are designed to protect all members of the public. The WHO advises that there's no convincing scientific evidence that the weak signals from base stations cause adverse health effects. Read information on radio waves and health from the WHO.
Despite most evidence showing there are no health-related dangers, we continue to fund research into the potential impact of mobiles and base stations on public health. Details of the projects receiving funding from the UK's independent health research programme can be found at www.mthr.org.uk.
As a precautionary measure the UK Health Protection Agency advises that children should try to use phones for essential calls only - read the report. Ultimately though, it's for parents and carers to weigh up the benefits and potential risks and decide how often their children use phones.
