MyFaves – Getting started

If you've chosen MyFaves, you can look forward to unlimited* calls, texts and picture messages to your 5 favourite people, no matter which UK network they're on.

Read below for step-by-step instructions on how to use and manage MyFaves.

Setting up your Faves on your phone

When you turn your new phone on, the MyFaves screen should automatically appear, however, this can take up to two hours from when we first connect you, so don't worry if you don't see it straight away.

When you do first see the MyFaves screen, it will be made up of 5 frames which you can then fill with your favourite 5 contacts.

  1. How to add a new favourite

    1. Select an empty slot
    2. Open the MyFaves menu
    3. Enter your contact's name and phone number

    Once you have set up your Myfaves, you can change each favourite's number once per calendar month. All other details like name and photo can be changed as often as you want.

    If you mistype a number, don't panic, you have 60 minutes to correct it.

  2. How to add a photo or icon to your favourite

    You can personalise your new favourite by choosing a photo or icon to represent them. Choose from any of the photos you have in your phone's photo album, or go to the MyFaves icon folder and select a picture from there. (Compatible handset is required)

  3. How to add an email address to your favourite

    Some MyFaves phones allow you to send your favourites emails with just a click on the MyFaves menu (this will be charged on top of your MyFaves plan).

    Enter your favourite's email address in the section where you entered their name and number. You'll need to set up your phone with an email account before you can start emailing - find out how. (Compatible handset is required)

  4. How to set up a birthday reminder

    Enter your favourite's birth date and a symbol will appear on the home screen along with an alarm to make sure you'll never miss it.

    You can also choose how many days prior to the birthday you'd like to be reminded, and specify other special dates such as anniversaries. (Compatible handset is required)

  5. Saving your favourites

    Once you've saved your favourite's details, an hourglass will appear while the number is registered on MyFaves.

    Once your favourite's photo/icon appears on your home screen, you're ready to start unlimited* talking, texting and picture messaging to that person.

    To change a favourite's photo, name or other details:

    1. Select the favourite on the home screen and click 'ok'
    2. Select 'Options'
    3. Select 'Edit contact' from the menu

    You can change your 5 favourites once a month if you want to.

Managing your Faves online

You can set up and manage MyFaves online in My T-Mobile, a free area on our website where you can make changes to your mobile account - log in or sign up to My T-Mobile now (it only takes a few minutes).

Using MyFaves

  1. How to text a favourite

    1. Use your left and right buttons to select a fave on your home screen and click 'ok'
    2. Select 'Send text msg' from the menu and click 'ok'
    3. Enter your text and click 'ok' to send your message

    Sending a picture message is just as easy.

  2. How to view calls or messages from your faves

    Take a look at the pictured phone. The envelope symbol means you've received an un-opened text from your favourite. All you have to do is click 'ok' to open it.

    If you want to view your calls and message log, scroll down to 'Activity log' and click 'ok'.

    Most people have a couple of friends or family members they're always in contact with. Our statistics show that two thirds of people's calls go to just 5 phone numbers.

    Your MyFaves contacts can be any UK network or most UK landlines.

    Yes. You can choose from a range of phones to suit all budgets – we want MyFaves to be available to everyone.

  6. Q6. Can I switch Favourites once I've set them up?

    Yes. Each favourite can be changed once per calendar month free of charge. If you mistype a number, you have 60 minutes to correct it on your phone, through My T-Mobile or on the MyFaves interface on your mobile.

    You can use all normal mobile services, but there are some additional bonuses with a MyFaves phone:

    • Call, text and picture message directly from the MyFaves menu on your phone's home screen
    • Assign individual ringtones to each of your favourites. (Compatible handset required)
    • Some phones let you email directly from the MyFaves menu
  9. Q9. What if my phone doesn't have a camera or I don't have a photo of one of my Favourites?

    No problem. All MyFaves phones come with a library of icons you can choose from instead.

  10. Q10. Do I always need to select 5 Favourites?

    You can select less than 5, but no more than 5.

  11. Q11. Can I hide the MyFaves screen?

    Yes, you can hide and show the MyFaves screen whenever you like.

  12. Q12. Do other network operators also offer MyFaves?

    No, MyFaves is offered exclusively by T-Mobile.

  13. Q13. Can I e-mail my 5 favourites?

    You can if your MyFaves phone supports email, however, this isn't part of the unlimited package, it's charged at the standard web'n'walk rate.

  14. Q14. Can Business customers have MyFaves?

    No.

  15. Q15. Can I use my MyFaves allowance when roaming?

    No, international calls are not included and will be charged at the standard roaming rate for that country.

  16. Q16. I'm already with T-Mobile, can I switch to a My Faves plan?

    You may be able to. You will need a phone which supports MyFaves. If you bought your phone after November 1st 2007, then it may support My Faves. You can check this by looking for the MyFaves logo in the label underneath your phone's battery. If you bought it before November 1st 2007 then it probably won't support MyFaves and so you might have to buy a new phone. If your contract is going to end soon, check with us to see whether you can upgrade your phone and switch to MyFaves at the same time. Call us on 150 to find out or visit your nearest T-Mobile store.

  17. Q17. How do I switch to a My Faves plan?

    If you think your phone does support My Faves, and you're on a Pay Monthly price plan, then give us a call on 150 from your T-Mobile phone and we can check whether you're eligible to move onto MyFaves

    If you're on pay as you go, then you will need to move to Pay Monthly to take advantage of MyFaves. You can do this in the online shop and get a great new phone into the bargain!

 * Fair use policy and other legal stuff

  • You'll have to promise to stay with us for 18 months and pass our credit check. You'll need a MyFaves handset. MyFaves is for your personal use only. Already a T-Mobile customer? You will have to ask us whether you can move to a MyFaves plan and you may also have to buy a MyFaves handset.
  • You can set up your MyFaves contacts using your mobile phone or by logging on to My T-Mobile. Once your contact is successfully loaded into the MyFaves screen on your mobile you'll get unlimited calls, text and MMS in the UK to that contact. You can have up to 5 MyFaves contacts. Each MyFaves contact can be the number of a customer of a UK mobile network or a UK local or national number starting with 01, 02 or 03. This doesn't cover Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Your inclusive minutes and texts are from the UK to those types of numbers too, at any time. Calls to MyFaves contacts do not come out of your inclusive allowance. After you first set up your contacts, you can change each contact once in every following calendar month.

* A fair use policy applies so if, in the reasonable opinion of T-Mobile, your use of calls to your MyFaves contacts is excessive, we may ask you to reduce your usage. If you fail to reduce your usage, we reserve the right to ask you to move to another more appropriate price plan and/or to charge you for your excessive use at your MyFaves price plan rate.
