    • April
    • Launch of "pay once" concept for BlackBerry®smartphone. Single payment of £179.99 includes a BlackBerry® Pearl, with a year's unlimited email and internet access.
    • Srini Gopalan appointed Chief Marketing Officer. Srini was previously managing director of Capital One Bank, Europe.
    • Sales of the T-Mobile G1 with Google approach the 100,000 mark. T-Mobile confirms the launch of a second Android device later in 2009.
    • High-speed wireless internet service is launched on Virgin Train' West Coast Main Line. The Wi-Fi HotSpot service provides a wireless broadband connection throughout the entire journey.
    • Life's for Sharing brand campaign builds momentum with the new Sing-along television advert. 13,500 people gather at Trafalgar Square for a mass karaoke session, with international rock star Pink leading the crowds in song.
    • Business SIM-Plan launches, extending our SIM-only tariff to small businesses with up to 30 users.

    • Flext, the UK's original flexible tariff, delivers greater value with the inclusion of over 50 international calling destinations, the most popular 08 numbers, and voice mail.
    • YouGov survey conducted in January ranks T-Mobile first for mobile broadband customer satisfaction, winning nine out of 13 categories including reliability during the day, speed, getting connected and value for money.

    • A new corporate responsibility initiative, The Spark, generates ideas to combat social and environmental issues using mobile technology. T-Mobile volunteers will work with young people to create innovative projects.
    • Instant Email provides consumers fast access to their personal email direct from their mobile phone.
    • January
    • Life's for Sharing brand campaign kicks off with Dance advert featuring 350 dancers going through a varied routine at Liverpool Street station in London.
    • YouTube channel launched to provide customer support for T-Mobile G1. It includes tips, tricks and updated video clips.

    • October
    • The T-Mobile G1 with Google is launched. The world's first handset to run on Google's Android open source software platform gives users the freedom to download unique applications from Android Market.
    • Good Call, T-Mobile's first corporate responsibility report in magazine format, is published. Designed to keep customers up to date on CR initiatives, the six-monthly report covers issues such as cyber bullying, recycling phones, volunteering, ethical procurement policies and the environment.

    • Pay per day Mobile Broadband is launched. The range of 1, 7 and 30-day packages offer fast and flexible internet access with no tie-in.
    • Heathrow Terminal 5 Wi-Fi HotSpot goes live.
    • Boosters give customers the power to personalise their price plans according to their needs. Boosters are available for talking and texting, for calling the UK from Europe, for making international calls and for internet access.

    • T-Mobile provides the complete Mobile Broadband experience with a new plan which includes of a laptop and a modem for customers signing up to 24-month contracts.
    • July
    • The PAYG International Pass gives customers discounted calls to the 50 most popular calling destinations.
    • More than 1.7 million customers opted in to receive "top up" PAYG rewards.
    • The charge for accessing the internet while travelling in EU countries is cut by 80%.
    • T-Mobile is the first mobile operator to deploy nationwide HSUPA capability, providing a fivefold increase in upload speeds of up to 1.4Mbps.
    • HSDPA-enabled 3G network is upgraded to 7.2Mbps, offering effective maximum speeds of 4.5Mbps within the M25 and 7 major cities.

    • T-Mobile launches a ground-breaking guarantee that customers get the best minutes allowance on the market at £30.

    • New post-pay portfolio launched. Combi is a simple monthly plan with a fixed number of minutes and texts. Solo is a SIM-only tariff offering market-leading value.

    • Introduction of Top Up & Stretch, giving PAYG customers who top up £10 between Monday and Friday an extra £10 credit to use on the weekend.

    • Strategic partnership formed with Yahoo!, making Yahoo! oneSearch the exclusive mobile search service for web'n'walk (now Internet on your phone) customers.
    • New price structures for the Business 1-Plan. Businesses with fewer than 30 connections receive double the amount of voice minutes at no added cost.
    • January
    • 3G network consolidation gets underway with the formation of a 50:50 joint venture between T-Mobile and 3UK. This collaboration will create the UK's most extensive 3G network by 2010 and deliver close to nationwide 3G population coverage.
    • Mobile phone recycling is given a boost with the introduction of a scheme to return unwanted phones via a freepost bag in the box of all new handsets.

    • T-Mobile enters SIM-only market with just SIM (now Solo).
    • Mobile Broadband launched introducing unlimited internet access at broadband speeds using a simple USB modem.
    • Wi-Fi service introduced on Heathrow Express.

    • T-Mobile launches MyFaves giving customers unlimited calls and texts to their five favourite people.
    • Flext has 2 million customers.

    • New dedicated "child protection" website goes live, covering mobile safety issues with input and advice from the NSPCC.
