Speeds and coverage

Our mobile broadband network is really fast - most people will get speeds between 1 and 2Mb/s. As a comparison, these are the kind of fast speeds you get from fixed line broadband at home.

Your mobile broadband speed will depend on what sort of coverage you have. Use our mobile broadband coverage checker by entering your postcode and we'll show you what mobile broadband coverage you can expect.

In addition by the end of 2008 we'll be rolling out a real maximum speed of 4.5 Mb/s across major UK cities.

A lot of noise about mobile broadband speeds

Other mobile broadband providers are talking the talk, claiming speeds of 7.2Mb/s, but they aren't walking the walk - speeds are likely to be much lower than this. Mobile broadband network speeds are dependent on how busy the mobile network is, the location and the strength of the broadband signal.

Using mobile broadband abroad

In the past using mobile broadband abroad would've given you a pretty nasty shock on your bill. Things have changed. If you use the internet on your laptop or phone in the EU*, you'll now be charged just £1.50/Mb.
