Getting Started

It's as easy as pie

Setting up picture messaging is simple. In fact, if your mobile can show pictures, all you need to do is send one picture message. That's it. Now you're ready to receive them as well.

Read on if you're not sure whether you have a picture messaging phone.

Can my phone send and receive picture messages?

All camera phones can send and receive picture messages and some phones that don't have cameras can, too. Look for 'picture messaging' in the messaging section on your mobile to see if yours is able to.

Even if your phone can't show pictures, you can still view picture messages - you simply have to view pictures online instead of on your mobile.

If your mobile can't show pictures and someone sends you a message from a T-Mobile phone, you receive a text with a password and a web address - www.t-mobile.co.uk/pmcollect - where you can view the picture message. It'll only be available online for 14 days, so make sure you save the picture to a computer if you want to keep it.

If you have a picture messaging phone but you've still received a text instead of a picture, it's probably because:

  • you haven't activated picture messaging - send a picture to yourself or a friend who's received a picture message to get it working
  • your message settings are incorrect - get the right settings sent by text.

How do I activate picture messaging?

All you need to do is send a picture message to yourself! Or to a friend who's received a picture message before. Once you've done this, you'll receive a 'Welcome' picture message from T-Mobile which means you're all set up and ready to start messaging.

If you don't receive a 'Welcome' picture message from us, it probably means your phone doesn't have the right settings. Don't panic! We can text the settings you need straight to your phone. Get your settings sent by text.

Who can I send picture messages to?

Not only friends and family members with UK mobiles. You can also send pictures to:
