Premium and promo texts
Text message services
Premium texts usually provide information or entertainment and are charged to your phone bill or deducted from your prepay balance.
This means you pay to either:
- Send a text, like a vote for a Big Brother contestant
- To receive a text, like an order for a ringtone
- Receive a texts on a regular basis (called subscription services), like a daily horoscope
Other examples of premium text services include:
- Mobile game downloads
- Sports results
- Adult entertainment
- Information services (weather, traffic etc)
T-Mobile offers some premium text services. All of these use four-digit shortcodes and are only available to T-Mobile customers. Five-digit shortcodes services beginning with 5, 6 or 8 are non-T-Mobile premium services.
Stopping premium texts
If you want to cancel a premium text service:
- Reply STOP to the last message you received
- Text STOP to the shortcode you texted to subscribe to the service
Keep in mind that though other companies use the T-Mobile network to send you premium text messages, we have no control over them. We'll never give your number to a premium text service provider under any circumstances.
An organisation called PhonepayPlus regulates premium text service providers.
Stopping promotional texts
There should be instructions on how to unsubscribe at the bottom of each text. If not, please contact the company sending the messages.
Further information and complaints
If you have an enquiry or complaint relating to one of these services you should first contact the company that sent the texts. If you require further info about T-Mobile's premium text services please contact customer services.
